Who was the Polish “James Bond”?

Bulldog Film Distribution are delighted to announce the UK release of the Polish World War II spy thriller KURIER on 28 June 2019.

We have been sent over the great trailer as well as some images, and poster.

Based on a true story, Philippe Tłokiński stars as real-life Polish war hero Jan Nowak-Jeziorański in the latest blockbuster from cult director Władysław Pasikowski. A man of extraordinary courage who served as an emissary between the commanders of Poland’s Home Army resistance movement and the Polish Government in Exile in London at the height of the Second World War, Jan came to be known as “The Messenger from Warsaw.” Hunted by all the Axis Powers’ secret services, he is smuggled out of Poland with a mission to make his way to London with information which would decide the fate of Poland and the war, meeting along the way people who will change his life forever.

Philippe stars alongside Patricia Volny who plays wartime telephone controller Marysia, and Julie Engelbrecht who stars as the enigmatic Doris, whose fate becomes irrevocably entwined with Jan’s, as the course of his mission brings them together time and again against the backdrop of war-torn Europe.

The rising stars of the international cast are joined by a galaxy of Polish household names: Tomasz Schuchardt, Adam Woronowicz, Zbigniew Zamachowski, Mirosław Baka, Rafał Królikowski, Grzegorz Małecki, Jan Frycz and a cameo from Cezary Pazura.

The film is directed by Władysław Pasikowski, who gained cult status in Poland in the 1990s with his hit action thrillers based in the murky world of Poland’s post-Communism police force. The production was spearheaded by the Warsaw Uprising Museum alongside Scorpio Studio.
