BBC films and the people who gave us Horrible Histories have just sent out a press release to let the world to know that they are about to start principle photography for a film, Bill, about England’s greatest playwright and the time that his story had been lost to history. Now we find out what actually* happened.
The horrible histories cast of Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond will be playing, between them, 40 of the film’s roles.
According to the press release the film is about what really happened during the bard’s ‘lost year’s. A hopeless lute player who moves to London to follow his dream. Along the way he gets involved in amongst other things, a plot to blow up Queen Elizabeth.
Laurence Rickard, the film’s writer, said: โThe joy of the Lost Years is we can tell a fun story without trampling on the facts โ it gives us licence to take William Shakespeare on a truly ridiculous caper, yet end with him becoming the man the world knows.โ
I am a big fan of their work on Horrible Histories. hopefully, it will be the same mix of silliness and a song or two thrown in for good measure.
Filming is about to start on February 10, 2010. this means that there are no images of the film exist. this means I will just have to show you one from their BAFTA winning series.
