Mary Magdalene’s trailer

Monday saw the release of the first image of Rooney Mara as Mary Magdalene.  Now, we can give you the first trailer as well as two new images from the film.

I’m not sure what to make of Mary Magdalene. It looks amazing however I do have a slight annoyance with Rooney Mara’s accent throughout. It takes something away form the character.

It seems to be a straight Biblical epic. It has everything you want. Jesus. Destroying the Money-lender’s stalls & the crucifixion. This time, however, the focus isn’t on the men but one of the women that appear in the bible. Mary Magdalene, one of his followers. It has a feel of Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead to me for some reason.

MARY MAGDALENE is an authentic and humanistic portrait of one of the most enigmatic and misunderstood spiritual figures in history. The biblical biopic tells the story of Mary, a young woman in search of a new way of living. Constricted by the hierarchies of the day, Mary defies her traditional family to join a new social movement led by the charismatic Jesus of Nazareth. She soon finds a place for herself within the movement and at the heart of a journey that will lead to Jerusalem.
