MUBI, the global distributor, streaming service and production company is delighted to announce the Blu-ray and DVD release of Ali Abbasi’s critically acclaimed Holy Spider on 24 April 2023.
Set in the holy city of Mashhad, Ali Abbasi’s haunting latest feature follows journalist Rahimi (Zar Amir Ebrahimi), as she investigates the murders of several sex workers by the ‘Spider Killer’, who believes he is on a divine mission to cleanse the city of sinners.
Zar Amir Ebrahimi won Best Actress at the 2022 Seville European Film Festival for her role in Holy Spider. The film was also nominated for Best European Film, Director, Actress and Screenwriter at the 2022 European Film Awards. The film received its World Premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, where Zar Amir Ebrahimi won the Best Actress award.
