With a great cast and based on a Stephen Sondheim musical, Into The Woods, we have been set over a set of Character posters.
If you have seen the musical, then it will surprise you. The film has been slightly Disney-fied so purists of the musical may not like the film.
They have done this by removing some of the more explicit of musical’s plot elements. They have also written some new songs for the film as well.
Back to the posters as this is what the post is about. There are ten that feature the main cat members and their characters.
As you can see above [click on them to make them bigger], some do seem to be heavily touched-up. Well, wither that or that’s the style that the director is aiming for. Your guess is as good as mine over that bit.
The worst of the set is Daniel Huttlestone’s. It has the feel of a character from The Polar Express as well in a pose reminiscent of one of the film’s official images, or was it one of the posters? It could have been either, or neither.
“Into the Woods” is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.
