Delve into the story of Jupiter Jones in Jupiter Ascending

After principle photography started in early April 2013, a trailer, images, and some posters have been released. Envisioned as the first part of a new trilogy with the Wachowskis’ writing and, in this case, directing as well.

If it’s going to be like the last science fiction trilogy they wrote, this one will be epic and the second and third part… Just ignore them and keep the memory of the first one.

One name that is in the film is Sean Bean. When I saw that, the first thing that came to mind is when is he going to die. The characters he plays don’t have the best time of surviving to the end credits of a film!

The film is visually stunning as well as the effects and stunts as you can see in the below trailer. However, with the memory of the final two Matrix films in my mind, I’m worried about the script being very patchy and full of new age hippyism and cod-philosophy that overflowed in The Matrix films. Have a look and you can always comment below

The other things that we have been sent are two character posters of our heroes as well as two sets of galleries. One that are just seemingly screengrabs from the above trailer and the other are the Official stills. I don’t know what the differences are as they have both been sent to me via official channels.

The first one is the set of the cut-price Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie character posters. Sorry, that should read the principle actors’ posters.

Now onto the casting. Sean Bean is good but we will all be waiting for his character do die in some heroic way. Mila Kunis, in some shots in the trailer, makes you feel that they wanted someone like Angelina Jolie but they wanted too much money. Channing Tatum on the other hand, seems to have the same issues. A cut-price Brad Pitt? It maybe that the Wachowski name isn’t what it once was in the time between the Matrix coming out 15 years ago and today. Apart from The Matrix trilogy, their films have only done mediocre box office numbers.

All in all. It seems to have a 10/10 for visuals but, probably, a 4/10 for the dialogue in the film. That’s my view from watching the trailer. The next trailer may change my mind. We will just have to wait and see…

Jupiter Jones was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine, a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
