Last week we saw a new poster for 300: Rise of an Empire and I wasn’t impressed with it. Now Warner Bros. have released a new one.
It’s as bad as the one they released a couple of days ago. This time it seems to an attempt to homage to the great poster form the original 300. The “Tonight We Dine In Hell!”
The have stuck with the blue / orange motif that a lot of posters do. I think that they are trying to stay away from this by saying “the blue is the water“. I don’t believe them for one minute. Stay with the same style as the audience is used to from the first outing of the 300. Why change a great brand image just because it’s now on water instead of on land.
With that out of the way, we now can present the new trailer that makes it look like Noam Murro, the director of this one, has found the blue filter that Zack Snyder lost whilst making the last 300.
I could go on and on and on about the homoerotic element of the film but I don’t think I need to. In its defense, I have to say that it does have a woman fighting so that’s fine. I will let you decide what way you think it is. Just remember the first one when you answer.
Comments are welcome so please let me know what you think.
Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.
“300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
