Vertigo Releasing is excited to announce that their new star-studded animation RALLY ROAD RACERS will be coming to UK cinemas from 15th September.
RALLY ROAD RACERS follows a slow loris named Zhi (Jimmy O. Yang) who has a need for speed and must overcome his lack of experience and personal obstacles to win an international car race across China to save his Granny’s home. Across the four gruelling days of the Silk Road Rally, Zhi is tested time and time again, but the power of friendship and love save the day.
Fun for all the family the film features an incredible voice cast of J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Jimmy O. Yang (Crazy Rich Asians), Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe), Lisa Lu (Crazy Rich Asians), Catherine Tate (Dr Who) and John Cleese (Monty Python) to name a few.
Speaking about the film Director and Writer Ross Venokur said: “Some directors are drawn to Man v. Man stories, while others are drawn to Man v. Society stories and others still to Man v. Self stories, but I’ve always been partial to Slow Loris v. Toad stories. The moment I read Rally Road Racers, I knew I had to make it. Also, I wrote it, and as I’m one of my favourite writers, I jumped at the opportunity to work with myself again.”
Talking further about his process Venokur said “When I started writing this film, nearly a decade ago now, I think I thought I was Zhi, the plucky underdog protagonist. And maybe I was. But standing on this side of it, I’m feeling more like Gnash, the bumper-sticker-philosophy-slinging goat who tried to step away too early even though he still has a lot of game left in him. Perhaps I’m both. I don’t know. But one thing I do know is that that younger version of myself absolutely loves this movie! #TeamMuddyMeadows4Ever!”
RALLY ROAD RACERS will be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland from 15th September
