Singing into the Brother’s Grimm with Into the Woods

An Interesting sounding film has just hit my in-box. Into The Woods. One with an interesting cast as you can see on the poster.

The film’s director, Rob Marshall has a great track record of transferring musicals to the silver screen. He did this with the Academy Award®-winning musical “Chicago” as well as with comedy by taking the helm of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,”

The film is based on the Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine musical of the same name. There has been some changes to the plot. Not killing off a character and toning down the sexuality of some aspects of the musical.

It stars all of you favourite Disney characters, sorry that should read characters from the Brothers Grimm fairy tales.

Originally I had the Australian trailer here but Disney have asked me to swap it out for the UK version.

“Into the Woods” is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel — all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.

Offering apples to UK cinemagoers from January 9, 2015
