Monday [25Aug2014] saw the start of principle photography of the upcoming 5th instalment in the Mission: Impossible franchise.
The film will be filming in Europe and North Africa with visits to Vienna, Morocco and London.
We will see Tom Cruise back as Ethan Hunt with Simon Pegg, Heremy Renner and Ving Rhames back as Benji, Brant and Luther.
Christopher McQuarrie will take the helm as director. His last film also starred Tom Cruise. That being the 2012 film, Jack Reacher. He was also involved in two other Tom Cruise films. Both as a screenwriter; Valkyrie and Edge of Tomorrow.
Not only that Christopher has teamed up with Iron Man 3 co-writer, Drew Pearce. So the script should be good. At least 1/2 good as Drew did great work on Iron Man 3.
With the lack-luster results of the 3rd instalment, the franchise got it’s legs back with the 4th film. That one grossing almost $700 million worldwide. That film became Cruise’s highest grossing film to date.
The “MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE” franchise has earned more than $2 billion at the box office, making it one of the most successful franchises in movie history.
