Compassionate Films are excited to share images from yesterday’s red carpet premiere of their highly anticipated new documentary Never Forget Tibet: The Dalai Lama’s Untold Story.
The film premiere was presented by the Dalai Lama’s friend of many years, Dr Deepak Chopra, who gave a short talk and participated in a Q & A with actress, producer and director Sadie Frost, and Compassionate Films Managing Director and producer Jean-Paul Mertinez. The best-selling author, and global wellness icon, led a live guided meditation for world peace to an intimate audience of dignitaries, VIPs and press ahead of the film screening.
High-profile supporters of the Dalai Lama in attendance included Lady Emma Weymouth (Marchioness of Bath), Astrid Harbord, fashion photographer Juergen Teller, Kuldeep Knox, founder of Chāmpo, and actress Donna Air. Shim Khalid, co-owner of West London Film Studios, Susan Ferraro-Leger a US powerhouse and affiliate of Dr Chopra.
Never Forget Tibet, is an officially sanctioned documentary, directed by Jean-Paul Mertinez, which explores, with His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama, the details of his incredible escape into exile for the first time on film in his own words with the Indian political officer who led him to safety, Har Mander Singh. Dr Deepak Chopra has provided a special meditation for world peace to celebrate the theatrical release of this historic documentary, which is exclusive to cinemas and will be shown before the film.
Never Forget Tibet took over London’s Everyman, Borough Yards on 29th March in celebration of His Holiness’ incredible story. The premiere featured a special presentation of Kate Moss ‘Cosmoss’ short film and the afterparty playlist was curated by Duran Duran’s Roger Taylor.
Never Forget Tibet is being released theatrically in the U.K. & Ireland on April 19th to mark the 64th anniversary of the escape of the Dalai Lama from Tibet into India.
Featuring members of the Dalai Lama’s family, the Tibetan community in exile and those with historic ties to Tibet, the film explores the Dalai Lama’s compassion for a world seemingly in crisis today and seeks to find what can be learnt from his inspirational life story, Tibetan culture and its ancient spirituality.
Inspired by the book ‘An Officer and His Holiness’ by Rani Singh, the film is narrated by British acting legend Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Paddington) and features music from Grammy-nominated artist Anoushka Shankar. The film is produced by Compassionate Films and the Executive Producers are Templeheart Films, Lyndon Baldock, Gavin Patterson and Rani Singh.
Director Jean-Paul Mertinez said “We are thrilled that the story of the Dalai Lama’s escape from Tibet into India is coming to audiences on the big screen. Whilst making the film, I was profoundly moved by his compassion in the face of adversity, which will hopefully inspire many others.
