Copilot has a trailer

Modern Films has released an exclusive UK trailer for Anne Zohra Berrached’s highly anticipated drama COPILOT. The film is a fictionalisation of a true story, about a couple, Lebanese born Saeed (Roger Azar) and his Turkish girlfriend Asli (Canan Kir), who met as students in Hamburg in the 90s. COPILOT. which Berrached wrote and directed, received its World Premiere at the 2021 Berlin Film Festival, in the Panorama section. It will be released on September 10th, the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. This film is told from the female perspective.

When sharp science student Asli meets charismatic Saeed in the mid 90’s, it’s love at first sight. The lovers marry, and Asli swears to be true to Saeed and never betray his secrets. Their future looks bright, but as the twenty-first century dawns, Saeed makes a decision that will not only shatter Asli’s dreams,but shake the whole world to the core.

Directed by Anne Zohra Berrached, with a screenplay by Berrached and Stefanie Misrahi, the film is produced by Razor Films (Wadjda, The Perfect Candidate and Quo Vadis, Aida?) and producers Gerhard Meixner, Roman Paul, Christiane Sommer. Co-production companies include Haut et Court and Zero Film with the support of DFFF, FFA, BKM, Eurimages, MDM, MBB, FMSNRW, FFHSH, CNC, MEDIA, NDR and Arte. International sales are handled by The Match Factory.

COPILOT will be in cinemas across the UK & Ireland on the 10th September 2021. It will have its UK Premiere at the BFI Southbank on 6th September as part the Woman with a Movie Camera screening series with Berrached in attendance.
