Set in 1934 Duluth, Minnesota, during the Great Depression, Girl from the North Country centres on Nick Laine, who struggles to keep his guesthouse afloat amidst financial ruin.

His wife, Elizabeth, battles dementia, while their adopted daughter, Marianne, harbours a secret pregnancy. The guesthouse becomes a refuge for a diverse group of drifters, each grappling with their own hardships. As their lives intertwine, themes of love, loss, and hope emerge, all underscored by reimagined renditions of Bob Dylan's songs, including "Forever Young", "All Along the Watchtower”, "Hurricane" and "Like a Rolling Stone."
