Yesterday saw the release of the first three posters for the upcoming Ridley Scott film, Exodus: Gods and Kings.
They are quite uninspiring. Just simple character shots. One of Moses, Ramses and the third is the first poster. That poster just seems to be two different poses from the same photoshop, sorry photo-shoot! Then again, the film is almost 6 months away at the moment.
It has a release date of Boxing day here in the UK. Normally used as a dumping ground of films that the distributor doesn’t know what to do with. that and it’s the last weekend to release films so they can be nominated for award season. It’s also two weeks after the last part of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, Getting back home with the hold [or whatever it’s called]. I for one isn’t expecting it to do spectacular business as wouldn’t an Easter release be a better time.
The last time we saw a biblical epic do amazing business was Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ. That was released on a better holiday. Not one where all parents are broke after getting the Christmas presents.
Looking at the posters, what can we read into the film. Not much, unless that will be the look of the film. A biblical epic with the look of Tron! Not only that, we will be getting 3D immersion. Whatever the heck that means! All I can assume it means is that we’re not going to get spears thrown towards the audience. Please give me your view in the comments below.
Whilst I’ve been writing this, I received and email. Not that unnusual I know. This one was for the first trailer for the film. This will tell us what it will look like. I maybe wrong about the Tron analogy mentioned just above.
