Two great things occured today. The first was the new teaser for one of the greatest cinema monsters of all time and the second was a new poster for the film. Yes I am talking about the classic Monster, Godzilla.
After he (or is it a she) last appeared in UK cinemas in the, actually quite dreadful, Roland Emmerich 1998 attempt. I think the less said about that version is best.
The teaser trailer as well as the new poster, that keeps the same theme as the ones released at Comic Con and online. That being quite cryptic and having the feel of the old 50s & 60s movies.
The trailer doesn’t give much away apart from Gozilla is huge! I do mean absolutely f**king massive!
I, personally, had some reservations when I heard who the director was, Gareth Edwards, as his previous film is the ultra low-budget Monsters. After watching the teaser trailer my reservations were dispelled. Well, they are until the first “real” trailer his in a couple of months time and my mind will be made up.
I do have a slight dread that the film will be great. It will take away from some of the things that make that sort of Japanese monster movies so great.
An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
I can’t leave this without mentioning The Simpsons and the below sign. That was easy!
