“Thank you all, and Merry Christmas!”
The Muppet Christmas Carol returns to the big screen at cinemas across the UK and Ireland this December
Park Circus are bringing back to UK cinemas Walt Disney Pictures and Jim Henson Productions’ 1992 classic The Muppet Christmas Carol back to the big screen this Christmas. In a very special twenty-fifth anniversary celebration, it will show at selected Cineworld, Picturehouse and selected independent cinemas across the UK and Ireland from 4 December.
Brian Henson directed his late father’s creations in this adaptation of Charles Dickens classic Christmas story, starring Kermit as the long-suffering but ever-hopeful Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy as Cratchit’s wife, the Great Gonzo as an unlikely Charles Dickens and co-starring Michael Caine as the miser of the piece, Scrooge. This bright, playful adaptation of the sombre tale soon settles into mirthful memories and a sense of melancholy as the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future take Scrooge on a journey of his lonely life.
Michael Caine makes a wonderful Scrooge, delightfully rediscovering the meaning of life as fantastic creations from Henson’s Creature Shop (developed especially for this film) take the reins as the three ghosts.
Screenings will take place from 4 December at cinemas across the UK and Ireland, continuning throughout the Christmas season.
