Whilst cinemas have been closed, it has stood firmly alongside colleagues from across the industry to give exhibitor, studio, and festival partners a voice, to share uplifting moments from classic films, and to showcase favourite films of a diverse range of industry figures, all to remind audiences of the magic of the big screen.
And now, after a seriously challenging few months, Park Circus is delighted to announce that, in order to support the reopening of cinemas as it is safe to do so, they will be presenting cinema programmers with a range of incredible ways to inspire audiences back to the big screen.
From 11 June 2021, the Coen Brothers genre-subverting snowy thriller Fargo will return to cinemas to mark its 25th anniversary.
The Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) 1996 classic will screen in 4K across the UK and selected international territories as cinemas safely reopen.
Winner of two Academy Awards® (Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress for Frances McDormand), the reissue marks the theatrical release of McDormand’s multi-award-winning latest project, Nomadland.
Celebrated as a darkly comic twist on the thriller genre, Fargo is also a film of great visual beauty, with cinematography by regular Coen Brothers collaborator, Roger Deakins. When a hapless husband finds himself in insurmountable debt, a series of absurdities embroils him with two inept crooks. Their crimes fall under the jurisdiction of a heavily pregnant rural Minnesota police chief, Marge Gunderson (McDormand), who makes no small effort to solve the case.
Looking to provide a fully comprehensive range of options for exhibition, Park Circus will also be marking some very special anniversaries (everything from Gilda’s 75th to Zoolander’s 20th) and celebrating the release of this summer’s best new films by offering for booking everything from silent comedies, thrillers and iconic love stories to animation, musicals, and modern classics.
Further, in addition to support cinemas’ reopening programmes, Park Circus is delighted to also book drive-in and open-air screenings in DCP format.
Mark Hirzberger-Taylor, CEO of Park Circus said: “We are so proud to once more play our part – standing firmly alongside our studio partners – in helping cinemas to welcome people safely back, indoors and outdoors, just as soon as it is safe to do so. We believe the opportunity to experience these classic stories from across the decades on the big screen will play a vital role in breathing new life into our beloved cinemas.“
