MUBI, the global distributor, streaming service and production company, has announced the global streaming release date for BAFTA Award nominee Yann Demange’s (Lovecraft Country, Top Boy, ‘71) short film, Dammi. Dammi had its World Premiere at the 2023 Locarno Film Festival and its North American Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and will stream exclusively on MUBI globally from 12 July 2024.
Written by Yann Demange and Rosa Attab, Dammi stars Academy Award winner Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Four Lions), Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two, Climax), Yousfi Henine and features the participation of Academy Award nominee Isabelle Adjani (Possession, Camille Claudel) and César Award nominee Sandor Funtek (Blue is the Warmest Colour, Dheepan).
A man returns to his native Paris in search of a connection with his estranged father. This personal journey through memories of his past and surreal fragments of the present opens new pathways to explore his identity and recover his roots.
Producer, Alexandre Mattiussi, AMI Paris Founder and Creative Director said on the film: “On a personal level — for me but also for AMI — there was this strong desire to produce a genuine cinema story: this was the start of an extraordinary adventure with Yann Mounir Demange, a director whom I have admired for a long time. We gave him free rein, and he created Dammi, a magnificent, moving, very intimate short film about his father and his childhood. Now I realise that the values that have been AMI’s since the very beginning — family, friendship, love, sharing — are equally the values that the Silver Screen tells the best… This is something that I am truly proud of.”
