Steve Carell was be the latest star to entertain the nation’s children and parents with a CBeebies Bedtime Story, reading from The Eyebrows of Doom, as the theatrical release of Minions: The Rise of Gru hits UK cinemas on 1st July.
The story will air on Friday 1st July on CBeebies. Steve Carell can also be seen on BBC TikTok reading through CBeebies’ parent viewers’ funny observations.
The Eyebrows of Doom is written by the rhyming genius, Steve Smallman, and with artwork from award-winning illustrator Miguel Ordonez, the book follows Dave the bear and his friends as they try to stop the eyebrows of doom leaping from one unsuspecting animal to the next.
Steve Carell said, “I loved reading to my kids when they were younger so it was a great pleasure to read a Bedtime Story for CBeebies, (about a pair of mischievous eyebrows causing havoc, which is something we can all relate to)”
The Minion’s star – who reprises his role as Gru, aged 12 in Minions: The Rise of Gru – joins a host of A-list actors, royalty and music icons who have read CBeebies Bedtime Stories including Harry Styles, Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, David Swimmer, Dolly Parton, Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cambridge, Felicity Jones, Dave Grohl, Orlando Bloom and Rose Ayling-Ellis who signed her story in British Sign Language
This summer, from the biggest global animated franchise in history, comes the origin story of how the world’s greatest supervillain first met his iconic Minions, forged cinema’s most despicable crew and faced off against the most unstoppable criminal force ever assembled in Minions: The Rise of Gru.
When the infamous supervillain supergroup, the Vicious 6, oust their leader—legendary martial arts fighter Wild Knuckles (Oscar® winner Alan Arkin)— Gru, their most devoted fanboy, interviews to become their newest member. The Vicious 6 is not impressed by the diminutive, wannabe villain, but then Gru outsmarts (and enrages) them, and he suddenly finds himself the mortal enemy of the apex of evil. With Gru on the run, the Minions attempt to master the art of kung fu to help save him, and Gru discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.
