8 new, alternative, posters as well as a video feature for the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
The posters are a mix of vintage and propaganda. The propaganda posters are all from the apes point of view. With that, I’m wondering if we are going to see another set from humanities point of view. The answer is, probably, no as the film is out in a couple of weeks time.
The other thing that was sent over is a video featurette about the making, and the look, of the film. The main thread is about “making it real”. They built the sets and took the 3D cameras into the woods and hoped for the best.
This is one of the films this summer that I will actually get to a cinema and watch. I’m not sure that you can dive straight into this film without watching the first film in the series. I would expect a brief “in the last film X happened“. Probably, it’ll be more like “in the past decade since X happened“.
We see this sort of narrative device in a lot of sequels. Sometimes you get them in the first part of a series. Transformers did it. That one made me laugh out loud. It was more the way that one was done & the stupidity of the film as well.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
