Take KiDULTHOOD and add a choir into the mix. With that you get Urban Hymn has a hard hitting trailer. It’s the sort of mash-up of genres that British film makers do very well. Especially on a budget.
It does seem to have everything apart from, possibly, a happy ending but that can all change when you get down to your local cinema and see it where it should be seen. On the big screen.
Set against the backdrop of the 2011 British summer riots, Michael Caton–Jones’ URBAN HYMN is a redemptive coming-of-age story set in South-West London and follows wayward teen, Jamie. Encouraged by inspiring and unconventional care worker Kate to use singing as a release from her troubled life, Jamie’s loyalties soon become torn between Kate and her possessive and volatile best friend, Leanne.
