King Arthur: Legend of the Sword opens at number 1 in the UK
London, 22nd May 2017— Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” led the UK weekend box office, tallying a strong £2.5 million including previews.
“King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. The all-new big screen adventure from director Guy Ritchie opened on approximately 565 sites on 17th May 2017.
Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword”, starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role. When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Arthur’s uncle, Vortigern (Jude Law), seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy.
