Something strange in Star Trek

I ended up on the Star Trek twitter feed a couple of days ago and noticed something strange.  The strange thing is the below image that they use as the title image of their username.

Star Trek

Can you notice the odd thing about it? I’ll give you a clue. It’s the character in the centre. Shouldn’t that be Captain Lorca and not the mutineer Michael Burnham.

Then again the series isn’t about the captain unlike the other 5 series and films.  Also, it would have been nice to keep the theme of captains and not just a set of heroes and a villain that takes centre stage.

If we swap out Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham and replace her with Jason Isaacs’ Gabriel Lorca.  Why not have a go and swap out the captain in the other series. Let’s have a go:

  • Star Trek: The Original Series
    • William Shatner’s Captain Kirk to Leonard Nimoy’s Spock
  • Star Trek: The Next Generation
    • Patrick Stewart’s Captain Picard to Jonathan Frakes’ Will Riker
  • Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
    • Avery Brooks’ Commander / Captain  Sisko to Armin Shimerman’s Quark
  • Star Trek: Voyager
    • Kate Mulgrew’s Captain Janeway to Robert Picardo’s The Doctor
  • Star Trek: Enterprise
    • Scott Bakula’s Captain Archer to John Billingsley’s Dr. Phlox
  • Star Trek “Reboot films”
    • Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk to Simon Pegg’s Scotty

What do you think of my choice?  I’m sure you’ll say that they are all wrong.  If you do, you can use the comment box below and leave me your thought or abuse.
