Into Hell with Fury

Into Hell with Fury
An amazing new featurette has just hit the web for Fury. This time it’s a look behind the scenes on how the film was made. From using real tanks to blowing up real building down to the effort the costume department put into finding costumes. They went to Berlin to find authentic 1940s clothing. This makes the film even more period correct. All to get that authentic look of war. This carried onto the blood and gore that is covering all the people on film. From the mud of living in a tank to the blood of a friend and his wounds.

It is mentioned that this isn’t a Hollywood look at war. More Saving Private Ryan than The Longest Day. The research seems to be amazing in trying to capture the real look at war and not make it pretty. A film that is about reproducing history. The aim is to make you feel like it is a documentary more than a Hollywood war film. It seems that they have got it correct.

The more footage I see of the film, the more I think it has taken some inspiration from the Israeli film, Lebanon. Another film that takes a very honest look at war from a small group of, tightly knit men fighting to survive.

April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
